      Chicago Tribune

The quintessential American love story --the one between the spoiled heiress and the spontaneous, fun-loving guy from the wrong side of the tracks--has seldom been more elegantly and entertainingly told.

      IGN

It's that rare movie that I will not only continue to enjoy as a moviegoer and all-around romantic, but recommend as a legitimate standard-bearer for the animated classics yet to come.

      Los Angeles Times

Capturing the pain and humor of genuine childhood feelings requires far more subtlety and skill, and this emotional depth makes Lady and the Tramp a timeless film that audiences will still enjoy 31 years from now.

      Variety

A delight for the juveniles and lots of fun for adults, Lady and the Tramp is the first animated feature in CinemaScope and the wider canvas and extra detail work reportedly meant an additional 30% in negative cost. It was a sound investment.

      Empire

With cracking music, a rollicking pace and dialogue that stands up to scrutiny, Lady And The Tramp really is among Walt's very best.

      The A.V. Club

As in all things, Lady And The Tramp is far more interested in raising complicated questions than in providing easy answers.

      The Telegraph

To borrow the words of the award-winning man of the moment Jean DuJardin (star of The Artist): "It's a simple story – a love story. It's universal. And everyone loves a cute dog."

      TV Guide Magazine

Disney's first CinemaScope cartoon, Lady and the Tramp cost $4,000,000 and took three years to complete, but it grossed over $25,000,000, making more money than any other film from the 1950s except THE TEN COMMANDMENTS and BEN-HUR.
