Departed from the truth on several occasions, including depicting pre-war Nowogrodek as a Belarusian town where "no one speaks Polish," "there are only good Soviet partisans and bad Germans" and "Polish partisans are missing from the film altogether," movie simplifies the historical reality and fails to adequately place the events it describes within the complex historical situation of World War II in Eastern Poland. This is an adaptation of Nechama Tec's book rather than based on a true story.

I couldn't wait for this movie to end... Interesting plot which is based on a true story, but the pace is way too slow for a two hour movie.
