Synopsis
In the near future, the sun has become so toxic people can no longer leave their houses in daytime, and normal life is conducted mostly inside the virtual realm. Against this dystopian backdrop, a dying man seeks to ensure the future well-being of his family, while coping with what it means to be human in this new reality.

Film Threat
LX 2048 has some very funny moments of black comedy thrown in, especially in the latter half, which throws off the nihilistic tone that the movie has held up until then. However, some truly thought-provoking concepts, interesting production design, and a knockout performance from James D’Arcy make LX 2048 well worth a look. - 70
The Hollywood Reporter
While LX 2048 isn't equally satisfying on all fronts, it's more than successful enough to add to the where-are-we-going? syllabus. - 50
Movie Nation
This “virtual” instead of “real” world, with its toxic environment and compliant, drugged and plugged-in populace, feels insanely topical at times. - 50
San Francisco Chronicle
The watchable LX 2048 certainly gets an “A” for effort, including a creative take on Hamlet’s famous soliloquy. I’m not sure how good a movie it is, but it would be an excellent basis for a streaming series, in which its ambitious ideas would have time to develop.
