This film is a visually poetic gem on the principles of love, nature and the Universe. Each frame is systematically arranged to express a natural process whether it is the miracle of life, the constellations, innocence, the grace of music, death and decay. When gorgeous redhead Jessica Chastain who represents purity, the colors of the trees and the essence of love is floating and dancing gracefully in front of a tree I was struck and thought this is a visual definition of the word inspiration. There is a utopian paradise reunion on the beach, much like a heaven where all things are understood. I watched it two times in a row, one alone and the second along a sleeping watching partner. The film is carried in a meditative, dreamlike state one sometimes finds the self in reverie then snapping the mind back to synchronization. The soundtrack arranged by French composer Alexander Desplat is divided and titled as partitions magnifying the glass of childhood, light and darkness, fatherhood etc. The entire production is a circle composed of miniature circles. It’s strongest message is “Unless you love, life will flash by” try not to fall in love with Brad Pitt in his 1950’s chic attire playing Bach’s toccata & fugue in D minor on the organ. It overall is purely stunning.
