Synopsis
Heinrich wishes to conquer death through love, and when he meets Henriette, the wife of a business acquaintance, she expresses interest in a suicide pact when she learns she has a terminal illness.

MARTINAmour Fou seamlessly blends together the paintings of Vermeer, the acting of Bresson, and the psychological undercurrents of a Dostoevsky novel. Is like Jane Austen drawing-room comedy directed by Michael Haneke with its stiffness and lifelessness. The cinematography was done in a masterful fashion. A great deal of research was put into the costumes and production design in order to avoid clichés seen in many period films. In addition to being beautiful and colorful, the set, the design, the costumes were all very precise. Nothing was out of place, not even an inch. And the photography brought it all together, brought it to life. Also the original idea from which the film sprang was about a double suicide for love, which presumably raised interesting questions about how the dual ideas of love and suicide co-exist. The double suicide which is often related to a highly romantic gesture Hausner successfully break, by making this gesture more mundane and selfish.Created on 2/6/2015
