The Hollywood Reporter
Women will love this, and men won't mind the eye candy either, so it looks like this Screen Gems release can't help becoming a hit. - 70
Time
The results, while occasionally forced, are consistently amusing. - 65
NPR
It's silly and often laughable, but it's a sweet fantasy, too, produced in loving homage to the frothiest traditions of stage and screen. - 60
Los Angeles Times
Should you find yourself in the mood for Big Musical Numbers by the score rather than a film, there's a lot to like about Burlesque. - 60
Slate
The enthralling dance numbers-flashy spectacles with feathers and bras made out of pearls and netting-and the combined sass levels of Cher and Christina Aguilera gloss over the movie's weaknesses. - 50
Chicago Reader
The current burlesque revival is a throwback to ostensibly more innocent times, and writer-director Steven Antin finds something redemptive in each character. - 50
Variety
An overwrought, underwritten hootchy-kootchy tuner that desperately wants to be "Cabaret," but lacks the edge and historical context to pull it off. - 40
Salon
Anyone heading to Burlesque expecting it to live up to the standards of "Showgirls" is in for some serious disappointment: Burlesque isn't good, mind you, but it isn't the kind of bad that inspires midnight screenings and drinking games and Halloween costumes.
