IndieWire
As always in Dante's work, playful references are never an end to themselves, instead serving as backdrop to a satiric look at popular culture and biting social commentary. - 70
The Hollywood Reporter
Dante again smoothly combines moments of romantic and screwball comedy, schlocky genre elements and an overarching retro feel for this cute and pretty efficient zom com. - 67
The Playlist
A hard film to hate, but an even harder one to defend, Joe Dante’s throwback zombie comedy Burying the Ex is a completely unreconstructed B-movie that is perfectly happy to breeze by on charm, nostalgia and the attractiveness of its leads. - 40
The Telegraph
It feels less like a real Dante film than a dashed-off counterfeit. - 30
Variety
Strained, sexist schlock, which raises zero jolts and only fitful chuckles with its gamely performed tale. - 30
Village Voice
Dante took what could have been B-movie exploitation, and he turned it into jokes Charlie Sheen would shoot down. - 25
Slant Magazine
It alternates awkwardly between shrill, borderline misogynistic sex farce and desperately gory, pun-rife creature feature. - 25
Observer
The director is Joe Dante, a protégé of B-movie producer Roger Corman, who makes cheesy horror spoofs like "Gremlins" and "Piranha," along with a few good ones like "The Howling." This is not one of the good ones.
