The Hollywood Reporter
Deeply felt if not always convincing, the sophomore feature (the director's first, Las Lloronas, was in 2004) has the otherworldly flavor that sometimes accompanies very low-budget productions, and in this case rides that vibe further than its script might deserve. - 40
Los Angeles Times
While Silencio could be fascinating sci-fi, it’s bogged down in all the family drama. - 38
RogerEbert.com
It's one of the year's most convoluted original screenplays, but is probably best taken as a test in plot summarizing. - 25
Movie Nation
A sci-fi/ghost story mashup, it’s got nonsensical science, unemotional actors and direction that can’t be called that in any meaningful sense of the word. It’s head-slappingly stupid, a waste of time and scenery and an embarrassment to all concerned. - 20
Film Journal International
Anyone happening to come across Silencio should just as well move on: There’s nothing to see here. - 20
Variety
This turgid fantasy thriller, boasting scant thrills or imagination, douses a mystic time-travel concept with soap operatic hand-wringing to mawkishly unconvincing effect.
